The Paw Patrol Lights and sounds Air Patroller Plane comes with 2 pieces, the patroller plane itself, and a small robopup that can fit in the plane or be removed. If you purchase or own another Paw Patrol character it can fit in the cockpit as well. The design is pretty large for scale, and durable enough to withstand the adventurous play of curious toddlers.
With a one click rotation of propellers the paw patroller plane can be transformed into a jet within a few seconds. The back of the plane is also able to open up, and fit small items or additional Paw Patrol characters.
The plane requires batteries for the lights and sounds to function, though the sounds are limited they are recognizable to a child interested in aircraft sounds or who is already a fan of the Paw Patrol rescue missions found on TV. There are small wheels on the bottom of the unit to allow it to be manually rolled across the floor, and a handle on top makes it easily portable.
The larger size of the toy makes it easy to clean and disinfect, as only two parts open and the rest is one solid piece. The heavy plastic material is hard to dent or scrape and holds its condition well.
The price point for the air patroller plane is relatively high, however they are bulky and sturdy for optimal use. The lights are found on the wings of the plane and are activated along with the sounds, by the small button on the handle above the plane. Though the lights are small, they flash and are visible in daylight or darkness. The propellers have to be spun manually, which can keep young kids busy and with the rotation of propellers they can spin them from different angles.
The Paw Patrol air patroller is featured in recues on the Paw Patrol show, so it is a toy that a child who watches the show will recognize and quickly relate to. It is boldly colored in red, white and blue with a clear blue windshield covering the cockpit. The robopup included is small in size to fit the plane, so it is a great addition but can be easily misplaced or pose as a choking hazard.
With the recommended age range being 3 years and older, the air patroller can grow with kids in that age range, many say their younger or older children enjoyed it as much as the toddlers.
The difficulties found with this toy are minor but include it being difficult to get out of the original packaging, the sounds are very limited and the back hatch used for additional storage can be hard for an adult to open, and nearly impossible for a small child at the recommended age of three and older to maneuver. The weight of the patroller plane is 3.7 pounds, for some toddlers that is heavy to try to lift while simulating flight, and it is also heavy when thrown or hitting something.
